The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) provides an alternate and quicker entry into Canada. It allows Newfoundland and Labrador to nominate candidates who qualify under provincially established criteria for Permanent Resident Status. The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program consists three streams:
Express Entry Skilled Worker Category;
Skilled Worker Category;
International Graduate Category;
SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY
To be eligible for the Skilled Worker category candidate requires to fulfill the following conditions:
Must have a full-time employment offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer;
Must have an Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Work Permit or is entitled to apply for one;
Must have the education, training, skills, and/or accreditation required for the job;
Demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Have a job or job offer that does not contravene existing bargaining unit agreements or any employment disputes;
Demonstrate that you have sufficient settlement funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Employer (or future employer) can demonstrate a need for your skill set; and
Can demonstrate sufficient English or French language capability to perform the employment duties.
EXPRESS ENTRY SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY
The key advantage Newfoundland Express Entry has over other Canadian immigration paths is fast processing speed. Potentialapplicants who receive a Newfoundland PNP nomination certificate will receive an additional 600 points via the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is enough to essentially be guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency. Processing times for Provincial Nominee Program Newfoundland candidates are significantly quicker under Express Most permanent resident applications being processed in less than 6 months.To be eligible to submit an application under this program, applicant must:
Applicants must be accepted into CIC’s Express Entry pool system.
Applicants must have a high-skilled job or job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer based on the National Occupational Code (NOC) classification system;
Applicants may apply to the Express Entry Skilled Worker Category if they reside outside of Canada and have been offered a job by a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.
Requires a minimum score of 60 points out of 100 on the PNP point assessment grid system;
Must have a Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma, or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an agency approved by CIC to verify that their foreign education is equal to Canadian education standards.
Must be able to demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador and can demonstrate with proof that they have sufficient settlement funds;
Must be able to provide sufficient English or French language test results such as IELTS;
INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE IMMIGRATION CATEGORY
This category is for recent graduates who have a Post-Graduate Work Permit and a job or job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer. To be eligible under this category, the applicant must:
Must have completed at least half of their studies in Canada and have graduated from an eligible publicly funded Canadian college or university;
Must have completed at minimum a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis with an opportunity for advancement;
Must have a full-time job offer in their profession, or a related field of study, from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer;
Must have applied to the NLPNP within 2 years of the date on which they received their degree or diploma;
Must have a legal status to work in Canada; that is to say, have a Citizenship and Immigration Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit;
Must have the education, training, skills, and accreditation required for the job;
Must demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Must be able to demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador and can demonstrate with proof that they have sufficient settlement funds;
Must be able to provide sufficient English or French language test results such as IELTS;
