Canada Self-Employed Immigration
The Canadian government offers immigration programs for individuals who are self-employed in certain industries.
As an eligibility of Self-Employed Persons Program, an applicant must demonstrate that he or she has relevant agricultural, artistic, or athletic experience that will allow the applicant to be successfully self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to his or her field. To qualify for this program, applicants must have the relevant experience, intention and ability to either:
Make a significant contribution to the cultural or sporting life in Canada as artisans or as athletes at an international level; or
Purchase and manage a farm in Canada.
Requirements for Self Employed Class
at least two years of experience as participation in cultural activities or athletics at a world-class level;
at least two years experience of self-employment in cultural activities of athletics; or
at least two years of farm management experience
Applicant must meet the required level in basic language proficiency of English or French
A sufficient financial net worth which, should enable the applicant to be self-employed in Canada and make a significant contribution to specified economic activities in Canada and to meet the initial settlement requirements for the applicant and accompanying dependents.
Selection Points Grid
In addition to meet basic eligibility of a self-employed person, and will then be assed against five selection criteria and a point system. The applicant must obtain a minimum 35 points in order to qualify.
